ASEB will be an inaugural host organization for Collabriv, a social venture that brings promising young international leaders (ages 21–26) to the San Francisco Bay Area to participate in intensive six-month internships. In early March 2013, a four-person team of interns from four regions of the world will join ASEB in its marketing and outreach efforts to celebrate its 25 Year Anniversary and to set its course for the next 25 years. The intern team will work closely with ASEB staff in designing and implementing web, social media, and video campaigns so that ASEB can communicate more effectively with families, donors, trainees, and the general public. Interns will also help develop quality indicators to better evaluate ASEB’s work, contribute to producing our 25th Anniversary fundraising event, and to learn about ASEB’s lobbying efforts in the state capitol.

ASEB Executive Director Micheal Pope says, “It is exciting to be able to open our doors to a group of young people who are interested in learning about ASEB and what we do. I am very excited to have their energy and enthusiasm as part of our team.”

Dwight Wilson, CEO and Co-Founder of Collabriv, is a social entrepreneur with a 30-year career in international education, international exchange and youth leadership development. He is the founder of Seattle-based EarthCorps, which trains young adults from around the world in global leadership and environmental restoration. Wilson says, “We love the mission of ASEB and the passion of its employees. We are certain that our interns will both contribute meaningfully and learn a great deal that will benefit them for many decades to come.”

Other host organizations include the American Heart Association and Rising Sun Energy Center. Collabriv interns will also receive leadership training from faculty of Saint Mary’s College, mentoring from Collabriv staff and community volunteers, and deep immersion in the local community through living with a homestay family, field trips, and other opportunities.
