New memory care center scheduled to open this fall
A groundbreaking ceremony for ASEB’s new Fremont site was held at the campus of the Dominican Sisters of Mission San Jose. The ceremony, held March 19, included representatives of ASEB, the Dominican Sisters, and the City of Fremont. ASEB Fremont marks the beginning of a partnership between ASEB and the Dominican Sisters of Mission San Jose to extend the humanitarian mission of both organizations and bring the first memory care center to the Fremont Area. This partnership is a unique model between faith-based and social mission organizations to ensure access to quality health services for vulnerable senior populations. The center will be open to the public, but will also serve aging members of the Sisters’ own congregation. Dominican sisters will also be trained as volunteers. The new site is part of ASEB’s vision to create the first dementia friendly community in the East Bay. ASEB Fremont opens in the fall of 2014.
